What You Need to Know About CNC Metal Lathe?




Metal lathe is one of the processes taking place in the actual metal process. When metal is cut and treated, metal lathe is one of these cutting processes. CNC Metal lathe device is a general term for a machine utilized to eliminate material for a work piece, though the use of a cutting tool. They are specifically designed for metals.





There are a lot of lathe variations in terms of processing the metals. In the metalworking field, several lathe techniques are being used to ascertain the quality and cut of the metal that is under processed. Another type of machine for lathe purposes is the capstan lathe machine. The machine is categorized to be a manufacturing machine. It is a specialized machine which incorporates the functions of a typical lathe machine plus the revolutionary tailstock in a capstan style. It is commonly used for woodworking and other wood industries alike.





Another type of machine used for lathe is the turret lathe. It is also considered a manufacturing machine, and is very similar with the capstan machine appearance. Unlike the capstan machine which is stationary, turret machines are more versatile and mobile since it contains the turret slides that glide straight to the bed, instead of being fixed in one place.





There is another type of lathe machine called the combination CNC lathe wherein it introduces milling and drilling operations into the plain work piece of the lathe. These types of machines normally have an x and a y axis using the carriage for x and a top slide for y.





Old and Typical lathe machines are being replaced rapidly by CNC lathes machines. CNC lathe uses state of the art tooling for better precision and accuracy. These CNSC machines are highly specialized, but they are set for a simpler way of setting lathes and operation. The processes are modern and advanced. Most machinists and hobbyist prefer the CNC lathe machines since they are more versatile, efficient, and simple compared with typical lathe machines. At the same time, they are sure that the operation is not taken into sacrifice while making the work simpler than it gets.

What You Need to Know About Choosing a Boring Head?




Have you been in a machine shop? Let's look at what equipments a shop might be equipped with. The Engine Lathe is one of the most useful and necessary machines in a shop. The major function of the engine lathe is to change the size, shape or finish of a revolving work piece with various cutting tools.





The lathes in the shop consist of a headstock, tailstock, carriage and bed. The headstock encloses the spindle and motor, along with any gears and pulleys used to change the spindle speed. The tailstock is used for drilling, reaming, tapping, threading and centering parts. The carriage contains levers, clutches, and gears that control its movement either by hand or by power feed.





Bandsaws are often the most efficient metal removal machine tools in the shop. Most materials, from wood and plastics to aluminum and steel, can be cut on the bandsaws in the shop. Vertical bandsaws, also known as contour saws, perform metal removal jobs that save time and material. Large sheets and bars of material can be cut to size or shape without creating too many chips in a short period of time.





Pedestal grinders are used to sharpen high speed steel cutting tools used on the lathes and milling machines. Surface grinders and sanders are used to remove surface imperfections and to work extremely hard materials. The abrasive wheels are made from an abrasive medium (usually aluminum oxide or silicon carbide) held together by a vitrified (glass) bond.





The drill press is one of the most frequently used machine tools. They are used mainly for drilling holes but reaming, countersinking, and boring can also be accomplished with the drill press. Parts being machined with the drill press must either be in a vise or clamped to the table. A piece of plywood must be used under parts that are clamped to the table. This prevents drilling into the table top.





The milling machine uses a rotating milling cutter to produce machined surfaces by progressively removing material from a work piece. The vertical milling machine also can function like a drill press because the spindle is perpendicular to the table and can be lowered into the work piece. It is hard to say what the most important accessory for a milling machine is. But certainly the boring head must rank highly in importance for it.





What makes it so important is that it provides a means of accurately machining almost any size hole. It would be very impractical to own drills and reamers for all the possible hole sizes up to 1.75" (44mm) in diameter. Another point to consider is the fact that larger diameter drills and reamers could not be adapted to fit on a miniature size machine tool.





They are unnecessary too, because the boring head is infinitely adjustable so it can machine all of these holes. It is also capable of machining stepped holes for seat bearings and internal grooves for lock rings. Boring tools cut like lathe boring tools with the difference being the tool moves rather than the work.

All About Wood Tools




Wood is a very tricky material to work with. With its interesting properties and various forms and sizes, it is best to start working out some wood with the use of different handy wood tools for better results.





In wood working, which is often times described as the process of creating, making, carving, and building something with the use of wood. It was said that woodworking has been here for awhile. The use of various wood tools for wood working purposes has been traced since the ancient Egyptian times. Before, it was said that they use various pointed materials like spears as wood tools. Today however, lots of materials which differ in variety are used for wood.





Some famous wood tools are the claw hammer or finish head and the twenty five inches retractable tape measure. The Claw Hammer is the most widely used wood tools in the world. At a certain point in their lives people have used and utilized the claw hammer or the finish head. Even if there are lots of types of claw hammers the main feature of it is this smooth and rounded finish head. For starters, it is always good to use the ones which are not that heavy.





On the other hand, the main tools and materials used for measuring various types of wood materials is the 25" retractable tape measure. Same as the claw hammer, this is one widely used material wood. A good tape measure should have the usual and standard metric marking which can be locked to maintain your measurements. Another feature of this retractable tape measure is its hook which is loosely placed on the rivets by design. This hook is useful when marking measurements to get accurate results. Usually, this retractable tape measure is use for both internal and external measurements.
